“There Was Us”
Many of my paintings are about a connection; the connection of humans and the earth; the connection of space and time and God. This painting signifies the roots of our African ancestry connected to the beginning of time.

A Surrealist Piece
Other works have no meaning at all. The only reason I paint them being for my own enjoyment. This piece features a mermaid taking comfort in a tree as the sky falls around her. This artwork was more of an experiment to see if I could manage surrealism.

Abstract Collages
I had an assignment in college. The goal was to experiment with collage and the beauty of abstractionism. I thought I’d have a little fun with each assignment and make it my own. For this artwork I made several small paintings and glued them to a large paper, making a scene around them.

Now this piece was something special to me. I mixed up two magazine images on my iPad and created this collage. I wanted to focus my abstractionism on girlhood so I added lyrics from the song “I’m just a girl”by No Doubt, and other words I associated with being feminine. The end result turned out looking like a magazine cover and I fell in love.
